Pom Pom Sea Creatures Craft Tutorial

I came across an adorable Japanese craft book this year outlining how to make ‘pom pom’ animals and was inspired to try out a few of my own that are especially perfect for the summer months! Follow along with this pop pom sea creatures craft tutorial and you can have your own little collection of super cute marine dwellers!
I recommend using handmade pom poms for these, but store bought will do too. To make your own pom poms, you can easily buy a pom pom maker at your local craft store or online.
Supplies Needed for the Pom Pom Sea Creatures Craft Tutorial
- yarn in various colors or store-bought shaggy pom poms
- small black beads
- blue, pink and white felt
- black embroidery floss
- glue
- scissors
Making the Pom Pom Whale
To make this super sweet whale, use a medium-sized light blue pom pom or make your own with blue yarn. Cut out two semi-circle ‘fins’ and a ‘tail’ out of matching blue felt and glue onto the pom pom body. Glue two black beads to make eyes, and a whisp of black embroidery floss to make a smile.
Making the Pom Pom Jellyfish
For your jellyfish, you will need to tie a few loose pieces of yarn together tightly, then tie those tightly around your yarn pom pom. Cut out some small circles for the eyes out of white felt, and a tiny mouth out of pink felt.
Assemble these pieces together with glue, then add some black beads to your jellyfish’s eyes to complete this cute sea creature.
Making the Pom Pom Sea Urchin
The sea urchin is perhaps the cutest animal out of these three, and the easiest to make! Simply glue two black beads close together on the front of a ‘shaggy’ yarn pom pom.
Displaying Your Pom Pom Sea Creatures
Display your adorable sea creatures on some shells for the summer months, or add magnets to the back for a quick and fun addition to the refrigerator!
